Starting in 2013, Dianne Feinstein Elementary was fortunate to welcome a full-time outdoor-science teacher from Education Outside Corps.

Education Outside partners with SFUSD to provide Outdoor Science, Sustainability, Leadership, Gardening, and Cooking experiences for our school children. Students, grades K-5, go to the Outdoor Classroom weekly for three instructional blocks a year to learn about earth and life science in the outdoors.

Through this academic programming, DFES hopes to engage its students in a fruitful science curriculum that prepares them to be life-long learners who engage with their immediate surroundings, ask critical questions, and seek meaningful answers.

School Green Team – diverts 82% of all waste, and engages students to help with the composting and recycling programs.
