An "educational activity" is an activity offered by a school or school district that is an integral part of a student's education, including, but not limited to, curricular and extracurricular activity. Schools cannot charge or request a deposit for materials, physical education or school uniforms, or graduation caps and gowns that are required to take part in an educational activity.

  • For more details about the rights of parents and guardians, please see Your Child's Education: Things You Should Know
  • For more details on what fees can and cannot be charged at school, please see Assembly Bill No. 1575
